Which are the best natural supplements to lower the cholesterol?

Well, here I can share my views to lower cholesterol levels without drugs. I was tested with high Cholesterol level at 25, but successfully controlled at the age of 27.

Thanks to my doc who told me he is not going to give me any drugs and reduce this on my own. (Yes, such doctors exist !!). That evening, I started my research and changed my entire routine. Here you go:

  1. Start Jogging at least 30 minutes daily (That’s minimum) ,
  2. Control your diet:
  • Have Oats as breakfast or dinner (Minus addition of any sugar),
  • Reduce intake of fatty foods (A strict NO to Beef, Mutton and Shrimps),
  • Stop consuming bread, biscuits and cakes,
  • Reduce consumption of sugar and butter,
  • Have a colorful vegan diet. (Include more greens, carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, beets etc.)
  • Avocadoes (It increases your good cholesterol)
  • Foods rich in Vitamin C – include all the citrus fruits (oranges, grapefruit, lemons and naartjies), all berry fruits (cranberry, strawberry, blackberry etc), guava, spanspek, Mango,Blueberries (Studies show they lowers bad cholesterol)
  • Flax seeds (Lowers cholesterol)
  • Almonds (Lowers bad cholesterol) – Fry without oil. Tastes so good!!
  • Beans and Barley.
  • Onion, Curry Leaves – Lowers cholesterol,
  • Olive Oil and Olive products – Excellent for lowering cholesterol,
  • Fruits – Have more fruits (Remember: Do not over eat too many sweet fruits together. Fructose found in fruits can elevate Triglyceride levels),
  • Garlic and Broccoli reduces cholesterol,
  • Have Green tea (Without sugar of course),
  • Pomegranate: Is a perfect cholesterol lowering food

3. If you are overweight, reduce your weight.

Cholesterol does not reduce suddenly. Do a health checkup once every 4 months.

Use medication only if you cannot follow the above 3 points. Remember, cholesterol lowering drugs always comes with side effects.

People aged below 50 should try not to take medications.

Lead an active life. Do not be a couch potato.

Keep in mind : Cholesterol is a life style disorder caused by ourselves and not a disease. High cholesterol levels leads to Heart attack.
